Concerned Citizens of Genesee Junction community group, Seattle Neighborhood Group and Urban ArtWorks invites a local artist to design a mural in Seattle’s Genesee neighborhood at 4409 Rainier Ave S. The mural site is heavily trafficked by both cars and pedestrians with a bus stop at its Southern end.
The mural is located at a heavily trafficked intersection both by cars and pedestrians. Concerned Citizens of Genesee Junction want to reclaim the wall that has been covered in graffiti for the last 10 years. The small businesses on this block have been strengthening their connection to the community through multiple community clean up events. A mural here would strengthen and solidify the efforts of the community and further inspire positive relationships within the surrounding Genesee community.
Through discussions and voting among community members of Genesee, the mural should represent the urban space, cultural diversity and the local businesses in Rainier Valley. Preferably, the mural would depict cultural patterns/textiles, Northwest animals and people engaged in community activities.
