Muñeca’s Kitchen is an authentic Honduran eatery in Burien, by local woman business owner Muñeca. The restaurant offers flavorful Honduran dishes like baleadas, carne asada, and pollo con tajadas, with generous portions and delicious seasoning. Muñeca has created a warm and welcoming space where community members can gather, enjoy a meal, and experience Honduran cuisine.

This mural celebrates Honduran and broader Central American culture through symbols of heritage, nature, community, and identity. The Honduran flag, tropical plants, hibiscus, macaw, mountains, waterfall, and traditional architecture reflect the beauty and spirit of Honduras while also connecting to the shared landscapes and traditions of Central America. “At the center is Muñeca, whose name means “doll” in Spanish. She is the owner of the restaurant and a Honduran woman who has made caring for her community part of her work. During the floods, her restaurant gave free food to families affected, offering help when people needed it most. She continues to be deeply involved in supporting the community and bringing people together. Honduras is a country filled with many different skin tones and hair textures, and I wanted Muñeca to reflect that beauty and diversity through her presence in the mural. Burien has a large and vibrant Central American and Latino community, and during these uncertain times for many immigrant families, this mural is a small way of saying: you are seen, you belong here, and your culture matters. It is a celebration of where we come from, the people who care for one another, and the beauty we bring to Burien.
