Johnson & Carr LLC and Urban ArtWorks invites experienced public artists to paint a mural on a new live/work and retail development in the heart of Seattle’s Capitol Hill/Pike Pine neighborhood at 722 East Pike St. The Pike Pine corridor is a heavily trafficked area both day and night. It is home to many local businesses and serves as the main access point to Seattle’s famous Capitol Hill neighborhood.

This call for artists provides a unique opportunity to work on a large scale as the building is one of the tallest and most visible in the area. Also, the historic neighboring building, Pike Motorworks, will have a public facing courtyard that includes this wall, creating an unobstructed canvas.

Urban Artworks will contact artists and collaborate with the design team of Johnson & Carr LLC to determine three finalists. Finalists will submit concept designs for public voting and the final design will be selected upon public input.

Eligibility:

Call is open to all artists. Mural experience required.* Must be at least 18 years of age. Urban ArtWorks will provide insurance for artists who do not have it.

*We will accept design submissions from non-muralists, artists under 18 or physical limitations as long as the applicant has a designated installation partner. Installation partners can be provided through coordination with Urban ArtWorks.

Budget

Artist Stipend: $7,500

Scaffolding/Safety Equipment: provided*
*Scaffolding will already be in place and must be used for installation.
