Urban ArtWorks believes that all young people should have access to the transformative experience of creating art, which is why for 25 years we have engaged thousands of Seattle’s most vulnerable young people in arts-based education and employment. Your donations make it possible for Urban ArtWorks to provide programs where our teen apprentices work alongside artists to create art that revitalizes public spaces and strengthens connections with their peers and community.
To protect the physical health and safety of our young folx and artists, we have had to postpone our in-person programming. Their mental and spiritual health is just as important.
COVID-19 has changed our world, but it hasn’t changed the necessity for art. In fact, this is a time where art has become even more essential.
Urban ArtWorks is continuing to serve the youth we have worked with over the past year through our mentorship program. We are holding virtual meetings to keep our community connected, offering opportunities for the young people to take virtual art classes and check-in, sharing the work they are developing on our web platforms, and offering socially distanced delivery of art supplies to young people who need them. Our young folx have expressed how important it is to them that we continue to build community together and that they have the opportunity to create art as an outlet during this stressful and confusing time.
Through your support of Urban ArtWorks, you too are a part of our incredible community who commit their time and resources to ensure that all young people have access to quality arts education regardless of the barriers that have been placed on them by inequitable systems.
We are deeply grateful for your commitment to Urban ArtWorks and our mission of engaging youth and communities in the creation of public art that inspires connections and honors their voices.
Thank you for continuing to support and champion our youth!
